A 46-year-old man was injured when he rode his bicycle into the path of an oncoming car on Redlands Boulevard Monday evening.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lane of Redlands Boulevard near Iowa Street shortly after 8:00 p.m. on September 17th. The victim, a transient whose last known address was in Bakersfield, rode his BMX style bicycle off the curb and into the path of an oncoming Honda Civic traveling at about 35 to 40 mph. The victim was thrown from his bicycle, suffering head trauma.
The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Redlands woman, was not injured.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in serious condition. No further information on his condition is available.
The eastbound lanes of Redlands Boulevard at Iowa Street were closed for several hours as police investigated the accident.
