Suspect flees after attempted armed robbery at Walmart in Perris

News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

At around 10:30 a.m. on September 3rd, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to an attempted armed robbery call at the Walmart store located in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Avenue.

The investigation revealed that a man had entered the automotive department wearing concealing clothing and armed with a shotgun.  He  pointed the shotgun at employees, threw a bag on the register counter and demanded the employees fill the bag with money.

The suspect became frustrated and fired one round from the shotgun into the ceiling of the store.  He then grabbed the bag before the money was placed inside and fled.  He was seen getting into the front passenger seat of a four door gold or maroon colored sedan and fleeing the area.  The area was checked and the suspect was not located.

No one was injured during the incident.
