Toddler in critical condition after being pulled from pool in Moreno Valley

News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

2012-08-15-map-mo-val.JPGAt around 9:20 a.m. on August 15th, Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a possible drowning in the 26000 block of Bay Avenue in Moreno Valley after a 2-year-old boy was found by a family member in the swimming pool.

Life saving measures were performed and the child was transported to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

The toddler is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and currently listed in critical condition.

This is the second incident in a week of a child drowning in Riverside County.  Last week, a 5-year-old was found unresponsive in a community pool in Tuscany Hills in Lake Elsinore.  That child later died.

These incidents are a tragic reminder for pool owners, parents, and caretakers to secure swimming pool areas with appropriate door locks and alarms, and to keep an eye on children at all times.
