News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on July 24th, officers from the Perris Police Department Traffic Team investigated a collision that occurred in the parking lot in front of the Baskin Robbins ice cream store located at 1688 North Perris Boulevard in Perris, about 1/4 mile east of the I-215 freeway.
The collision involved a driver running over a five-year-old child. The driver slowed after running over the child, looked back through an open window, and fled the scene.
The driver was last seen driving west on Nuevo Road from the scene. The vehicle involved is described as a newer white Ford Expedition SUV. The driver is described as a Hispanic male in his 40’s, with short hair, and balding.
The child was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is still suffering from serious injuries.
The driver in this collision is still unidentified and now the police department is asking for the public’s help. Anyone having any information that may lead to the identification of the driver or any other information related to this collision is asked to please come forward by contacting Officer Jerry Osterloh at 951-210-1000 or 951-776-1099.
