News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
At around 10:00 a.m. on August 17th, officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a call reporting an explosive device at Sunnymead Elementary School. The caller reported that his friend had placed the device at the school.
Officers responded to the school, which was placed on lock-down. The immediate area was cordoned off, but not evacuated. The Department’s Hazardous Device Team was notified and a search of the school grounds and buildings was conducted.
No explosive device was found and it was determined that it had been a fictitious call. All students and staff returned to normal school activities around 12:00 p.m.
