Riverside gunshot victim in critical condition

News headline from the Riverside Police Department:

2012-08-09-map-la-sierra-hills.JPGShortly before 8:00 p.m. on August 8th, a 9-1-1 call was received by the Communications Bureau reporting a subject was down and bleeding on the side of the road near Arlington Avenue and Fairhaven Drive, near Crestlawn Memorial Park, in the La Sierra Hills area of Riverside.

Patrol officers and medical personnel responded and initially believed the victim may have been struck by a vehicle.  The 37-year-old Riverside man was immediately transported to a local hospital.  Medical staff at the hospital discovered the man had actually been shot.  He is currently in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Robbery/Homicide Unit and a technician from the Forensic Unit responded and are currently investigating this incident.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored four-door car with a spoiler drive away from the scene.

No arrests have been made at this time.
