Transient arrested for string of car burglaries in Eastvale

News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

Through a collaborative effort, the Eastvale Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team (SET), patrol, and crime analyst identified a recent crime trend of opportunistic thefts of GPS devices, MP3 and DVD players from parked vehicles in Eastvale.  In one of the vehicle burglaries, a citizen photographed the male suspect, and reported the incident to the Eastvale Police Department.  Members of the SET Team identified the suspect as Justin Lee Whipple, a 20-year-old transient from Eastvale.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on July 26th, members of the SET Team located Justin Lee Whipple walking in the 5000 block of Hamner Avenue in Eastvale.  He was in possession of GPS devices, MP3 and DVD players, jewelry, sunglasses, and miscellaneous digital electronics.  Further investigation revealed some of the property had been reported stolen from parked vehicles in Eastvale.

Justin Lee Whipple was arrested for vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, methamphetamine, marijuana, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.  He was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
