Riverside Police seeking public’s help to identify man accosting women along Victoria Avenue

2012-07-28-map-riv-victoria-av.JPGRiverside Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a subject who has accosted at least two women in the early morning hours along Victoria Avenue in Riverside’s greenbelt area.

On July 6th at approximately 6:00 a.m., a female jogger was running on Victoria Avenue between Gratton Street and Adams Street when a man grabbed her from behind.  She successfully fought off the attacker, who was last seen leaving the area on a bike.  The attacker is described as a Hispanic male, 5’5”, medium build, mid 20’s, and wearing dark clothing.

On July 17th, at approximately 6:40 a.m., a female was walking on the Victoria Avenue bike path between St. Lawrence Street and Jefferson Street, only a few blocks from where the earlier attack took place, when a subject approached her from behind and grabbed her.  She turned and screamed but the male subject was already running away from her.  The attacker in this incident is described as a Hispanic male, 5’6”, 135 lbs., 20’s, brown hair, brown eyes, dressed in a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and a blue baseball hat.

Police believe there may be additional unreported incidents and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Rita Cobb with the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault unit at 951-353-7120.
