On June 29th, as part of the Fourth of July Avoid the 25 DUI Task Force campaign, Redlands Police conducted grant funded traffic enforcement on Live Oak and San Timoteo Canyon Roads. With the assistance of the department’s air support unit, Air 10, officers targeted drivers who ran stop signs or passed illegally over the double yellow center lines.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. officers cited four people for crossing over the double yellow lines, one citation to a motorcyclist for driving 70 mph in a 50 mph zone, and one citation for running a stop sign.
Police also arrested 27-year-old Brian Haalboom for driving under the influence. Halboom was driving an SUV, pulling a boat trailer west on San Timoteo Canyon Road. He ran three stop signs at San Timoteo and Live Oak Canyon Roads, San Timoteo and Alessandro and at Alessandro and Crescent before stopping for police.
On July 2nd, Redlands Police conducted grant-funded traffic enforcement at four-way stop intersections in various areas of the City. Police cited 24 drivers for running stop signs, two drivers for using cell phones while driving, and three drivers for driving on a suspended license.
Funding for the Avoid Campaign is from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
