News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

At around 1:50 a.m. on July 29th, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to the 800 block of Hewitt Street in San Jacinto regarding a traffic collision.

They found that a female adult driver and sole occupant of a vehicle veered off the roadway while driving southbound on Hewitt Street approaching Shaver Street.  The driver ran into a utility pole, causing damage to the power pole and power lines.  There was a brief power outage to an unknown number of homes in the immediate area.

The driver was not injured during the collision.

Hewitt Street was closed between Shaver Street and East Evans Street for several hours while the utility pole was repaired.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
