News headline from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department:
At around 9:18 a.m. on July 7th, a deputy from the Victorville City Police Department was involved in a shooting near Amargosa Road and Midtown Drive in Victorville.
The deputy first saw the subject littering and stopped to question him. The man, later identified as Timothy Gray, 53, of Victorville, began acting erratically. Gray reportedly then drew a knife and charged at the Deputy. The Deputy fired his service weapon at Gray, striking him.
Gray was flown to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. The deputy was not injured.
Sheriff’s Homicide responded to the scene to conduct the investigation, as standard procedure for an Officer Involved Shooting. The completed investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney for review.
