Felon arrested after threatening resident during home burglary in Highgrove area of Riverside

2012-07-06-jvs12-0630-1-michaelstuartnyx201228877.jpgAt around 11:30 a.m. on June 30th, deputies from the unincorporated Highgrove are of Riverside received a call of a burglary in progress in the 1000 block of Center Street in Highgrove, near Iowa Avenue.  The victim reported that an unknown black male adult had just kicked in her front door and demanded money.  During the burglary, the man threatened to harm the victim and her relatives if the debt was not paid.  The suspect fled prior to deputies arriving.

With information given by the victim and eye witnesses, and through the course of their investigation, Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Michael Stuart Nyx (pictured right).

Nyx was later arrested near the 1100 block of Fountain Street, also in Highgrove.  At the time of his arrest, Nyx was in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle.  Neither he nor deputies were injured during the arrest.

Nyx was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for burglary, criminal threats, receiving stolen property, felon possessing a firearm, felon possessing ammo, and possession of assault weapon.
