2012-07-06-map-palm-desert.JPGIn the early morning hours of July 6th, the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at the Circle K convenience store located at 44775 San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert, just north of Highway 111.  The clerk reported that a white female juvenile entered the store wielding two kitchen-type knives and demanding cash.

After the clerk gave the suspect a small amount of cash, she grabbed two bottles of wine and ran north toward San Gorgonio Avenue.

The suspect was described as being about 5 feet tall, thin build, dark hair, wearing a red shirt, red pants, and a dark hoodie.  The suspect spoke both English and Spanish.

A short time later, at around 5:00 a.m., a resident near Las Palmas Avenue and Royal Palm Drive in Palm Desert, only a few blocks away from Circle K, called to report a female juvenile hiding in the bushes.  The juvenile told the resident she was hiding from the police.  The clerk at Circle K was contacted and the juvenile was positively identified as the suspect from the armed robbery.

The girl led deputies to some bushes where she had hidden the empty wine bottles and the two kitchen knives. The stolen cash was found in her pocket.

The girl, age 14 of Palm Desert, was arrested and booked at the Juvenile Hall in Indio on charges of armed robbery.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1660 or anonymously at 760-341-STOP (7867).
