At around 3:45 p.m. today, June 15th, the Riverside Police Department reported that a woman jumped from the Jackson Street bridge into the westbound lanes of the 91 freeway. She was not hit by any vehicles after the fall.
Several witnesses at the scene heard the woman yelling and saw her climb the fence prior to jumping.
Freeway lanes were closed while medical aid was rendered. She was transported to Riverside Community Hospital and listed in critical condition.
Her identity was not released. The only description provided is that she is approximately 41 years old.
The westbound lanes reopened a short time later, but traffic was jammed for the rest of the afternoon for several miles back to the 91/60/215 interchange.
