William Roy Telford age 88, passed away June 3, 2012. He was born May 13, 1924 at a quarter to nine on a Tuesday morning in Manchester, England.
William came to America in 1930 at the age of 6 years old, with his father William and mother Ethel and sister Edna. The family settled in Jersey City, N.J. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He got his pilot’s license in 1948.
He later married Margaret Audrey Mac Leer on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1950; they had two daughters, Audrey Laurie and Tammy Lynn. In 1968 the family moved to La Palma, California. William was employed for 18 years at Hughes Aircraft Co. in Fullerton, CA and retired in 1989; he later moved to Riverside and was a resident for 17 years.
His hobbies were leather crafts, skeet shooting, fishing, building and flying radio control airplanes.
William is survived by his daughters, Laurie and son-in-law Ronnie, Tammy and her fiancée Mike; three grandchildren, Michael, Chad & Wendy, her husband Arash; 2 great grandchildren, Alexis and Kaleb; sister-in-law, Joan Lane; and nieces and nephews.
We will miss his storytelling and the songs he would sing to us. The family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses and the staff of Visiting Nurses Association of the Inland Counties, Hospice for all the care and support.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association . (www.alz.org) A private graveside service will be held for the family at Riverside National Cemetery. Arlington Mortuary, Directors (800) 275-4648.
