Rodney King died in a modest home in Rialto.  Despite his large settlement with the police department and Los Angeles, he died poor.  King was found at the bottom of his pool on Father’s Day.

Kali Bowyer is presently speaking for the King family, and is asking people to help fund a $22,000 funeral for King, according to Bowyer.

It’s unclear why the family has fixed the cost of King’s funeral at a price that is considered to be above average.  King was a millionaire when he was awarded $3.8 million in a settlement over the beating that was recorded, broadcast on television, and forced a bad light upon the LAPD.

Since the 1992 beating the LAPD instituted massive reforms, and King moved to Rialto, where he was engaged to a former juror from his civil case.
