News headline from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department:
Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on June 7th, deputies in Hesperia arrested Jaime Javier Cardenas on a probation violation and burglary in connection with stolen lottery tickets.
Hesperia Detectives believe Cardenas is responsible for over 20 recent commercial burglaries in Hesperia and possibly 20 others throughout the Victor Valley. Investigators believe Cardenas would smash business windows and steal lottery tickets, then would quickly cash in the tickets at various locations in the high desert before their theft could be reported to the California State Lottery.
Detectives were able to identify the suspect with the help of video surveillance systems at several of the businesses. Through investigative leads, deputies apprehended Cardenas who, at the time of his arrest, had numerous stolen lottery tickets in his possession.
Jaime Cardenas was arrested and booked at the Victor Valley Jail and State Parole has issued a no-bail hold.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 760 947-1549 or anonymously through WE-TIP at 1-800-87-CRIME, or the website www.wetip.com).
