Domestic disturbance leads to murder arrest in Chino Hills

News headline from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department:

At around 10:15 p.m. on June 4th, deputies from the Chino Hills Station responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 4400 block of Los Serano Drive in Chino Hills.  While responding, dispatch received additional information of a possible major injury traffic collision at the same location.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a female down in the street with major injuries.  Medical aid responded and transported the victim to Chino Valley Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The victim was later identified as Betty Lai Wah Chan, 51, of Chino Hills.

During the initial investigation, deputies determined that the driver, identified as Zegang Wang, 45, of West Covina, had been involved in an argument with the victim and as he attempted to drive off, he ran over the victim.

Sheriff’s Homicide responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Wang was booked at West Valley Detention Center for murder.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
