News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
A Menifee Police Officer on patrol unexpectedly came upon a single vehicle collision at the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Junipero Road in Menifee, with people still trapped inside the vehicle.
The officer summoned help from additional officers and Cal-Fire to remove the injured victims and render medical aid. One of them had been ejected during the collision. All four people were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was being driven eastbound on McCall. The driver lost control for unknown reasons and veered into a signal light pole on the south side of the road.
The impact rendered the signal light unsafe and had to be removed for the safety of the public.
One of the hospitals later reported that one of the passengers had died from his injuries.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone that may have witnessed the collision or may have further information is asked to contact Officer Joshua Cail at 951-210-1000.
