News headline from the Riverside Police Department:
At around 9:15 a.m. on June 15th, officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to an apartment in the 8800 block of Indiana, near Monroe Street and the 91 freeway, for a death investigation. The Riverside Fire Department and American Medical Response were already at the location and the woman at the location was pronounced dead in one of the bedrooms.
The first officers to arrive saw blood at the location and believed foul play was involved. Detectives determined that the woman’s injuries were consistent with a homicide.
During the investigation, detectives learned the victim had a boyfriend who was at the apartment the night before and there was a past history of violence between them.
While actively searching for the possible suspect, it was learned he was struck by a train at approximately 1:30 a.m. only a few miles from the crime scene, in what appears to be a suicide.
The woman was later identified as Kathryn Sanchez, 34.
The man was later identified as Antonio Carreon Jr., 36, of San Bernardino.
At this point in the investigation the police department is not looking for any additional suspects and the case is being handled as a murder/suicide investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dave Smith at 951-353-7103 or Rick Wheeler at 951-353-7134.
