News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
Just before 10:00 a.m. on June 21st, a passerby flagged down deputies and pointed out a suspicious device located behind a business in the 43400 block of State Highway 74, near Ramona Expressway, in Hemet.
Upon closer examination, the device was found to be a glass bottle wrapped in burlap with metal wires protruding into the center.
The immediate area was cordoned off and the surrounding businesses were evacuated. The Hazardous Device Team was notified and responded to further examine the device.
The Hazardous Device Team used their robot to inspect the device and determine it was not an explosive device. The item turned out to be a decorated glass bottle handcraft.
