Fatal head-on collision on Ramona Expressway in San Jacinto

News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on June 18th, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision on Ramona Expressway between Lyon Street and Sanderson Avenue.  The collision was reported to involve several vehicles.

Upon arrival officers found two vehicles involved in a head-on collision with both drivers trapped in their vehicles.  A male driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a female driver was extricated by Cal Fire with the use of the Jaws of Life.

Ramona Expressway was closed between Lyon Street and Sanderson Avenue for nearly five hours while officers from the San Jacinto Police Department’s Traffic Team conducted the investigation.

The deceased male has not been identified pending notification to his next of kin.
