News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

A driver and her passenger safely escaped their vehicle after it plunged into Temecula’s Harveston Lake late Sunday night.  The driver reportedly pressed the accelerator accidentally instead of the brake.

At around 11:25 p.m. on June 10th, Temecula Police officers responded to the intersection of Harveston Drive and Lakeview Road in Temecula concerning a vehicle that drove into Harveston Lake.

On arrival, officers located the driver and passenger of the vehicle on the shore of the lake being treated by paramedics, and the vehicle completely submerged approximately twenty feet into the lake.  There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

At this time, no alcohol, drugs or other impairment is suspected and the investigation is continuing.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team was notified to assist with the removal of the vehicle from the lake.
