Live bat tests positive for rabies in Chino

News headline from the City of Chino:

On the afternoon of June 4th, an anonymous citizen dropped off a live bat at the Chino Police Department in a cardboard box.  The San Bernardino Department of Public Health confirmed on June 7th that the bat tested positive for rabies.

There is no indication at this time that anyone was directly exposed.  However, the Department of Public Health is interested in locating the person who dropped off this bat or anyone who might have touched this or any other bat.

The public is reminded not to touch bats or other wild animals.
