News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
Shortly before noon on June 30th, a Moreno Valley Police officer responded to a report of shoplifting at a business located in the 24800 block of Alessandro Boulevard, near Perris Boulevard, in Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, the officer contacted the suspects with loss prevention.
The suspects become confrontational and a fight ensued while they were being taken into custody. During the incident, store customers become hostile while the officers were making the arrest and additional officers were called for crowd control. Once the situation was contained it was determined that four officers were injured, two of them requiring medical attention at a hospital for minor injuries.
The two suspects were identified as Cynthia Mosley (pictured above right), 24, and Patrick Brunson (pictured below right), 21, both of Moreno Valley. Both were arrested for resisting an officer and causing injury. Mosley was also charged with burglary.
