The Albertson’s supermarket chain announced today the need to layoff of up to 2,500 employees within the next month, impacting every one of the nearly 250 stores in southern California and southern Nevada. About 20 of those stores are in the Inland Empire, 3 of them in Riverside.
Store officials have not said if any stores would be closed, or if any additional layoffs are anticipated.
The layoffs are set to begin on June 17th and are expected to be completed by July 1.
Albertson’s is said to be working with the employee union in carrying out the layoffs.
