‘Mow down pollution’ AQMD program to exchange gas lawn mowers for electric mowers

Announcement from the South Coast Air Quality Management District:

Registration opened on May 2nd for the AQMD’s 2012 Electric Lawn Mower Exchange Program. The exchange program is available to residents within their jurisdiction, which includes Riverside, San Bernardino, and most other cities within the Inland Empire.

This annual program offers AQMD residents an opportunity to help clean the air by exchanging a working gasoline-powered lawn mower and purchasing a new electric lawnmower.

Pre-registration is required.

There are six electric lawnmower models to choose from this year, with the final cost being from $100 to $280, depending on the model you choose.

There will be six exchange locations scheduled.
