News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. on May 20th, deputies from the Hemet Sheriff Station arrived at the 43000 block of Hacienda Street in the Valle Vista area near Hemet regarding a homeowner who encountered a subject inside his garage.
One of the deputies spotted a vehicle leaving the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the suspect vehicle collided with the deputies’ vehicle and the driver, identified as James Condon (pictured top right), 35, attempted to flee the area. After a brief struggle, Condon was detained and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the two passengers, Jerry Maroney (pictured middle right), 33; and Stacey Rice (pictured bottom right), 49, who remained inside the vehicle, were detained by deputies.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located several items of stolen property associated with the break-in and burglary of the victim’s garage.
All three were arrested and charged with burglary and possession of stolen property.
Maroney received additional charges of parole violation.
Condon received additional charges of assault on a peace officer, felony evading, parolee at large, and stolen vehicle.
