Eugene Theodore Malhiot Jan. 18, 1923 – May 4, 2012
Eugene Theodore Malhiot, 89, of Palm Desert, CA, formerly of Riverside, CA, passed peacefully 5/4/12, after a heroic battle with cancer. Eugene was born in Oak Park, IL, and was the proud son of Clarence and Frances Malhiot. He entered the service in 1942 where he spent 22 years before retiring in 1964 as a Lt. Col.
He finished 35 combat missions as a B-17 bomber pilot during World War II. In 1953, Gene received his B.S. degree from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. During 1958-1961 he was stationed in Okinawa with the 18th Tactical Fighter Wing and flew the F100.
Eugene is survived by his wife Mary of 57 years; daughter Barbara Laird (Michael); son Kirk Malhiot (Patricia); daughter Susan Malhiot-Mahr (Jerry); grandchildren Neal, Karisa &Noel, Jennifer & Jillian, Emily& Kevin and great-grandson Kael.
He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Jeany and his loving son Mark.
He is also survived by his brother Robert J. Malhiot of MI.
An exceptional family man of moral integrity, Gene leaves an honorable legacy, both to his family and his country.
Visitation will be on 5/14/12 at Acheson & Graham Mortuary at 10:00am, followed by an 11:15am graveside service with full military honors at the Riverside National Cemetery, Assembly Area #2. Acheson & Graham (951) 688-1221.
