Craigslist ad leads to armed robbery in Temecula parking lot

2012-05-01-sws12-0430-dontedeshawnwilliams201218481.jpgShortly before 1:30 p.m. on April 30th, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred in the parking lot at Jefferson Avenue and Overland Drive in Temecula.

Their investigation revealed that the female victim advertised an engagement ring for sale on the Craigslist website.  She sold the ring and made arrangements to meet the buyer at the above location to complete the sale.  After meeting and showing him the ring, the suspect revealed a pistol in his waistband and then robbed the victim.

Investigators were called out to assist with this investigation and were able to quickly develop leads in this case.  They set up a surveillance operation on an address associated with the suspect and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

2012-05-01-sws12-0430-marisakathleenmalone201218473.jpgThe search warrant was served later in the evening in in the 27000 block of Bolandra Court in Temecula.  The search warrant service resulted in the suspect being taken into custody without incident and evidence from the robbery being recovered.  In addition, investigators located a small amount of cocaine, scales, and packaging inside of the residence.

Donte Deshawn Williams (pictured top right), 20, of Murrieta, was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center for armed robbery.

Marisa Kathleen Malone (pictured lower right), 18, of Temecula, was also taken into custody and charged with possession for sales of cocaine.
