Announcement from the City of Chino:
Chino’s Relay for Life will kick off its fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society at 6:00 p.m. on April 11th at the Chino Community Building, located at 5443 “B” Street in Chino.
The event will include information about the Relay, which is a 24-hour walking fundraiser at Ayala Park in Chino that begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4th and ends at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 5th.
American Cancer Society Hero of Hope, Gail Henderson-Peter, will talk about her own battle with cancer. Honorary Event Chairman and Chino Mayor, Dennis Yates, is also expected to speak.
The kick off will include dinner, opportunities to join or form a Relay team, and prize drawings.
A boot camp will be offered this year to new team captains.
This year, event organizers hope to raise $220,000 to help find the cure for cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, the Chino Relay is among the top 20 Relays in California.

Show Us Your Hope campaign in the month of May, when Chino and Chino Hills business owners and residents are asked to decorate their businesses and homes in purple to bring awareness to cancer and the Relay.
Survivor Fashion Show on June 9th at 11:30 a.m. at the Chino Senior Center, located at 13170 Central Avenue in Chino.
Jose Cordero Golf Tournament on July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the El Prado Golf Courses, located at 6555 Pine Avenue in Chino.
