20th annual Walk With The Animals on ‘St. Paw-tricks Day’

Rain or shine, the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center will host the 20th annual ‘Walk With The Animals’ fundraiser at Fairmount Park in Riverside on Saturday, March 17, now dubbed ‘St. Paw-tricks Day’ in honor of this event.

The Grand Marshals for 2012 are Bob Harper (pictured left), from NBC’s The Biggest Loser , and Wolfhound Rescue, protecting Irish Wolfhound companions everywhere.

Put on your walking shoes and grab your pets and leashes for a leisurely 1.3-mile walk around scenic Lake Evans while helping raise funds to help support homeless animals in our community.

First 500 walkers receive a special goodie bag and raffle ticket.

Individuals who collect $75 in pledges receive a Walk t-shirt.

Virtual walkers and Doggie Date Sponsors are also encouraged.

Plenty of activities will be going on all morning, including exhibits, boutiques, doggie costume contest, activities for kids, bake sale (for people & pets), breed rescue groups, low-cost vaccinations and microchipping, Urban Search & Rescue demos, Butler Fearon O’Conner Irish School Dancers, and Muttley Crew K-9 Entertainment.

Registration starts at 8:00 near the tennis courts and bandshell.

A pancake breakfast will start at 8:00 a.m., followed by the walk around the lake starting at 9:00 a.m., and activities in the park after the walk.

Pets must be at least four months of age and on a six-foot leash or shorter. Must be current on all vaccinations, and physically healthy, wearing license and other ID tags. Also must be under control at all times and friendly toward other dogs,other animals, and people.
