Sacha Baron Cohen gets a warning from Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has warned the over-the-top actor and his new film’s studio, Paramount, that he is not welcome to attend the awards show in costume as the character from his new movie, The Dictator.

The Academy has said, though, that Cohen is welcome to attend as a cast member of the Best Picture nominee, Hugo, if he behaves himself.

Sasha Baron Cohen has a history of using awards shows and other large events as publicity stunts to promote his movies.

Cohen’s new movie, The Dictator, is scheduled to be released on May 11.

The 84th annual Academy Awards show will be broadcast on Sunday, February 26, from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
