Grabbing a bigger slice of the global $110 billion outsourcing pie, Manila, Phillipines has become the new call center capital of the world.
Companies from around the world are setting up operations there, even Indian firms, and consultants say that the number of call operators in the country may double in the next five years.
Often ignored as an economic laggard, the Philippines has beaten India to win the top spot for offshore call center outsourcing. That’s amid fresh grumbles in the U.S. over sending jobs abroad as President Obama urges American business leaders to find ways to bring jobs back home.
