One teenaged boy has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a high school student that was previously reported at La Quinta Park.
On February 9 at 3:00 p.m., three days after the crime, officers from the La Quinta Police Department arrested a male juvenile, age 17, of Coachella, for strong arm robbery, criminal threats, resisting arrest, and violation of probation.
The arrest and the robbery both took place at La Quinta Park on Blackhawk Way and Adams Street in La Quinta.
Two additional suspects believed to be involved in the robbery ran from the officers and after an extensive search were not located.
During the arrest, the suspect sustained minor injuries while resisting the officer. He was treated at a local hospital and booked into Juvenile Hall. The officer who made the arrest also received minor injuries during the struggle.
The other two outstanding suspects, who fled from the arresting officer, were described as Hispanic males, 17 - 19 years old, 5′08″ - 5′10″ tall and of medium build. One was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering and grey camouflage shorts.
The arrest stemmed from a robbery investigation that occurred on Monday, February 6.
The investigation revealed that the suspects approached the victim, a La Quinta High School student, in an aggressive and threatening manner and forcefully stole the victim’s property. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The investigation into the identification of the outstanding suspects and similar robberies is continuing.
