On February 7 at about 9:37 a.m., deputies from the Hemet Station of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred near the intersection of Gassner Road and Roger Lane in Anza.

When deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers arrived, they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at the location.  Cal-Fire responded to provide medical attention, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and no further details are available regarding this case.
