Attempted kidnapping of 15-year-old girl in Nuevo; suspect fled the scene

2012-02-06-hem12-0206-composite.jpgOn February 6 at approximately 3:40 p.m., deputies from the Hemet Station responded to an attempted kidnapping in the community of Nuevo.

The victim, a fifteen-year-old girl, walked home from her school at approximately 3:30 p.m.  As she walked alone on Tenth Street, near Lakeview Avenue, a man stopped his mini-van and attempted to pull her inside.

She was able to break free from the suspect and ran to a nearby residence, where she found safety.  She was uninjured.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the mini-van.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic man, who was approximately 20-30 years old, approximately six feet tall, with a thin, athletic build.  She also described him as having short black hair, brown eyes, a thin mustache, and two distinctive vertical scars and a dark mole under the suspect’s right eye.  A composite sketch of the suspect was provided and is shown at the right.

He wore a white t-shirt and dark pants, and drove a newer, white, mini-van with paper dealership advertisement plates.

This investigation is ongoing and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone who has any information about this incident to contact the Hemet Station at 951-791-3400.
