On January 19 at about 2:05 p.m., Palm Desert Police officers responded to 73000 Highway 111 in Palm Desert regarding a reported robbery of the 1st Bank.
Officers arrived in the area and established a perimeter around the bank. They quickly located and detained two possible suspects in the parking lot.
Witnesses reported that a male and female entered the bank and engaged in separate transactions, with the female reportedly presenting a note to a bank employee demanding money.
The female, later identified as Bertha Rangel, 40, of Cathedral City, was found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The male was detained by deputies in a parked vehicle in the parking lot. At the time of this report, investigators were continuing to detain the male adult pending further investigation.
