UCR: Warm weather confuses Riverside citrus trees

It’s not just you, it has been warm lately.  So warm and dry for so long that event citrus trees are in a quandry.

Professor Peggy Mauk, at UC Riverside says the trees are “confused” because it feels more like Spring.  As a result many citrus trees are already in bloom; roughly two months earlier than normal.

The blooms are the most delicate part of the tree, and if there’s a freeze, it could cause significant damage to the citrus harvest.
