Shoplifter’s boyfriend sprays officer with dog repellent

2012-01-20-hem12-0119-sammyyoungweakley.jpgOn January 19 shortly before 10:00 a.m., officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a reported robbery in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Avenue.

The loss prevention officer reported that a female suspect, later identified as Chante Park, entered the business, placed an item in her purse, and paid for other items not concealed.

Park then exited the business and was confronted outside by the loss prevention officer.

Park’s boyfriend, Sammy Weakley, believed she was being assaulted and sprayed the loss prevention officer with dog repellent.

Weakley, an ex-felon, ran off but was apprehended by officers a short distance away.

Park was taken into custody and later released for shoplifting.

Weakley was taken into custody for an ex-felon in possession of a chemical agent and other related violations.  He was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Erazo at (951) 654-2702.
