San Jacinto area schools in lockdown after report of armed robbery

2012-01-15-hem12-0113-composite.jpgOn Friday, January 13 at around 8:00 a.m., San Jacinto Police officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 600 block of North Ramona Boulevard in San Jacinto.

The suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun at a store clerk, and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

The suspect then fled on foot northbound on Tiger Lane towards Idyllwild Drive.

As a precaution, students attending schools in the immediate area were locked down for a brief period.   The lockdown involved San Jacinto High School, San Jacinto Elementary School, San Jacinto Head Start, and Monte Vista Middle School.

During the course of the investigation it was learned the suspect fled the area in a vehicle.

A composite sketch of the suspect has been provided.  He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 35 years old, 5′10″, medium build, short black hair, wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans.  The suspect left in a maroon-colored vehicle.
