The first two-weekend edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will feature headliners event veterans Radiohead, the Black Keys and rappers Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg.
The eclectic festival — which in its 13th year will feature everyone from reggae’s Jimmy Cliff to violinist Andrew Bird, English ska stalwarts Madness and enough dance music to qualify as a festival unto itself — will offer identical lineups on two consecutive April weekends to allow more concertgoers access to what has become a tough ticket to get. Coachella has sold out within days over the past few years, and daily attendance at Indio’s Empire Polo has neared 90,000, drawing fans from across the nation as well as Europe.
Not only is this year’s festival the first to span two weekends, it was the first time promoter Goldenvoice offered tickets months before the lineup was released. Weekend passes start at $269.
Other notable names on the lineup, posted Monday on the festival web site, include Florence + the Machine — whose stunning 2010 Coachella performance helped introduce singer Florence Welch to American audiences; indie/folk singer Bon Iver, who guested with festival headliner Kanye West last year; and reunions by Pulp, Mazzy Star, At the Drive In and Mike Watt’s fIREHOSE.
Remaining tickets will be available through Ticketmaster. For more information on camping, hotels, layaway programs and more, go to www.coachella.com. The announced lineups are as follows:
