Joe Paterno of Penn State has died at 85

Joe Paterno was regarded as one of the best coaches in major college football history.  He died Sunday morning at 9:25 a.m. at State College’s Mount Nittany Medical Center.

In the video on the right, from November 2010, Paterno talks about winning his 400th career game.

His family issued the following statement. “It is with great sadness that we announce that Joe Paterno passed away earlier today,” the family statement said. “His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled.”

Paterno had been battling lung cancer, and complications associated with the illness.
