On January 13th, at approximately 2:35 p.m., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a residence in the 73900 block of Rancho Road in Palm Desert regarding a family disturbance.
Information was received by dispatch that one of the family members, Daniel Brockman, 43, was intoxicated, making threats, and possibly armed with a gun.
Officers arrived and formed a perimeter around the residence. Attempts were made via phone calls and patrol car public address system to have Brockman exit the residence, but he would not comply.
Officers heard a gunshot, which came from inside the home. Officers then entered the home and Brockman was taken into custody.
It was discovered Brockman had access to numerous firearms inside the residence and had fired one round of ammunition through his television set.
Brockman was arrested for discharging a firearm in a negligent manner and violation of a restraining order.
