Arrest made after hit and run driver flees the scene of collision in Lake Elsinore

On January 17 at 5:30 p.m., officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run traffic collision in the area of Dexter and Central Avenue/State Route 74.

It was reported that a white Nissan sedan struck another vehicle and fled the area.

While officers were on their way to the scene, they spotted the white Nissan attempting to leave the area at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle jumped the curb at Main Street and Pottery Street.  The vehicle struck a tree and a small water main.

The driver fled on foot and eluded capture.

After further investigation, officers responded to the 32000 block of Celeste Way in Wildomar, where they were able to identify and arrest the hit and run driver.

The driver was identified at Felipe Rivera 22.  He was transported and booked into the Southwest Justice Center for hit and run, driving under the influence and obstructing/delaying a peace officer.
