Police chase stolen car through Jurupa Valley, Riverside, and Corona; ends in Orange County with arrest

2012-01-18-jvs12-0114-motajorge.jpgOn January 14 at 4:38 p.m., a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station attempted to stop a possible drunk driver at Jurupa Road and Tyrolite Street in Jurupa Valley.

The driver and passenger failed to yield for the deputy and a pursuit ensued.

Deputies pursued the vehicle to Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Avenue in Riverside.  The deputies then discontinued the pursuit due to heavy traffic at that location. However, Riverside Police Department’s helicopter maintained visual contact with the suspect vehicle as patrol officers from the Riverside Police Department took over the pursuit.

Officers from the Riverside Police Department pursued the suspect until he entered the westbound 91 freeway at Van Buren Boulevard.  At that time, officers from the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit.

The pursuit ended on the 91 Freeway at the 241 Junction in Orange County, when the suspect stopped his vehicle.

The suspect, Jorge Mota, 23, of Riverside, was taken into custody without further incident.

Mota was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, felony evading, and driving under the Influence.

This pursuit came to a successful conclusion because of the cooperation between the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Riverside Police Department and the California Highway Patrol; an example of how local law enforcement agencies work together to apprehend violators.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Jason Franks at the Jurupa Valley Station (951) 955-2600.
