Canyon Lake students report suspicious vehicle at several neighborhood bus stops

On January 19 at around 7:00 a.m., Canyon Lake Police officers responded to the area of Vacation Drive and Canyon Lake Drive North in regards to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Several students who were waiting at school bus stops in the area reported seeing a male subject who was wearing a black ski mask driving near the bus stops.

They described his vehicle as a newer looking white Chevrolet full-sized van with a red and white reflective strip below the rear windows.

The person in the van did not get out or contact any students; however, the fact that he was seen at more than one bus stop is of concern.

Canyon Lake Police Officers and School Resource Officers assigned to the Lake Elsinore Unified School District searched the area for the van, but were unable to locate it.

The Canyon Lake Police Department is committed to the safety of the citizens of the community and will be vigilant in investigating incidents of this nature.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact Officer Terrell Young at (951) 210-1000.  Anyone who sees suspicious activity or a crime in progress is encouraged to call 911.
