Event to recognize Human Trafficking Awareness Month

On Saturday, January 28, a 1.3 mile walk will take place in San Bernardino in recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at 825 East Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino.

The walk begins at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a rally that includes guest speakers San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael A. Ramos and a human trafficking survivor.

This is a free event, planned by the San Bernardino County District Attorney and CASE (Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation).

CASE began in March 2009, with a general meeting to look at the problem of commercial exploitation of minors in San Bernardino County.Since then, county agencies and interested members of the private sector have worked to train law enforcement, prosecutors, service providers and the public on how to intervene, educate, prevent and suppress these crimes.

“Unfortunately, the human trafficking of minors is a growing problem in our county that takes advantage of our young and vulnerable,” said District Attorney Michael A. Ramos.  “Enough is enough.  By coming together on a day like this to march for these victims is yet another step towards eliminating this scourge.”

To register for this event, please visit http://sbcase.eventbrite.com or call CASE Coordinator Anne-Michelle Ellis at (909) 383-9608.
