Authorities from Riverside Police Department have reported that on Wednesday, December 14th, 2011, school resource officers and detectives from the Riverside Police Department’s Neighborhood Policing Centers Investigation Units conducted a citywide “Truancy Enforcement Project.”
In collaboration with both the Riverside Unified and Alvord School Districts, the project is designed to discourage truancy and to show that truancy will not be ignored.
The project also aims to reduce the frequency of daytime crimes by students who are unsupervised during their truancy from school.
During the operation, officers and detectives contacted forty-eight students in order to determine if they were in violation of Daytime Loitering by Minors.
Twenty-eight students were cited for the daytime loitering violation and three juveniles were arrested for misdemeanor and infraction offenses.
During the course of the operation one suspect was contacted in the Orange Crest area and found to be in possession of a loaded stolen firearm. He has been identified as Roscoe Wilson, 20-years old, of Moreno Valley. He was booked for possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
