Patrols to increase after assault at park

On December 29 about 5:42 p.m., officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to Celebration Park in Moreno Valley regarding an assault.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a victim who said he had been looking for a family member at the park.  The victim stated his attention was drawn to the women’s restroom area where he saw two males loitering nearby.  He looked inside the women’s restroom and witnessed what he believed to be a consensual sexual encounter, possibly involving an underage female.  As the victim left the restroom he was assaulted by three males.  It is unclear if they were juveniles or young adults.

The Sheriff’s Departments helicopter was brought in to search the area, along with a bloodhound.  Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate any witnesses.

The victim was transported by a family member to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Investigators worked through the night and all local hospitals were contacted in an effort to locate any involved parties.

The Moreno Valley Police Department has increased patrols at parks throughout the city.  The police department encourages the public to report suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement.

Investigators are continuing to work this case. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Investigator D. Young at the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951) 486-6810 or (951) 247-8700.
